Balzan qualify to play in the quarter finals of the FA Trophy

19th January 2016 : Balzan qualified to play in the quarterfinals of the FA Trophy after defeating with out difficulty Melita with a score of 2 – 0.

Balzan FC took control as from the beginning of the game and had no difficulty of winning this game as Melita opted to defend for long stretches and operated in rare counterattacks. Balzan opened the score on the 21st minute, when  Alexandar Vujacic served LYDON MICALLEF who after dribbling past a couple of defenders shot home. On the 35th minute, Dylan Grima could have doubled the score but his shot finished wide.

In the second half Balzan increased their efforts and, a minute after restart, goalkeeper Jean Claude Debattista denied Alfred Effiong when he first partially saved over his shot from close range and immediately after he saved well another effort by him after connecting the rebound. On the 57th minute Balzan finally doubled the score when unmarked DYLAN GRIMA shot home after being served intelligently by Arab Samir from the left. On the 82nd minute substitute Alan Da Silva Souza could have increased the score but his shot finished high over the cross bar.
