Balzan made it eight wins in a row, as they won against Mosta 3 – 0, keeping pace with the top teams.

27th February 2016 : Balzan maintained their consistent performance as they managed to win comfortably 3 – 0 against Mosta .

Balzan had to do without injured Ryan Fenech and Alan da Silva Souza and suspended Pedro Calcado and Samir Arab. On the other hand Jonas Ekani Rodriguez was missing for Mosta as he was suspended.

In the opening minutes of the first half, with the wind at their back, Mosta had two good chances to open the score when in the 1st minute Godwin Mensha, served by Ice Cream Guobadia, saw his first attempt saved brilliantly by goalkeeper Christian Cassar. On the 22nd minute Cassar came to the rescue again with another good save over a direct free-kick taken by Dyson Falzon.

Balzan reacted and on the 28th minute, from a free-kick taken by Justin Grioli’s, the ball made its way past goalkeeper Omar Borg but Adrian Borg was on hand to clear off the fatal line.

But six minutes later Balzan managed to take the lead. Alfred Effiong set Alexandar  Vujacic inside the area who immediately served LYDON MICALLEF, who’s shot low shot finished at the back of the net, past Omar Borg.

Mosta did not react and a minute from time they suffered a second goal. Alfred Effiong burst into the area but his low drive was partially saved by Borg, with the ball falling into the path of ALEKSANDAR VUJACIC who finished the ball home.

Eight minutes into the second half Balzan sealed the issue when PAUL FENECH picked up a loose ball and, from a distance outside the box, gave no chance to Omar Borg with his stunning shot.

Balzan had another chance to increase the score when, on the hour, a Clive Brincat’s header managed to beat Omar Borg but Fatai Alabi cleared off the fatal line.

In stoppage time, from a direct corner kick Paul Fenech was unlucky to see his inswinger come off the bar before Mosta cleared.
