Balzan lost 1 – 4 in the encounter against Birkirkara

Monday 2nd November 2015 –  Balzan suffered the second consecutive defeat when they lost to Birkirkara with a 1 – 4 result. Balzan played with a depleted team as they lacked foreigners Elkin Serrano Valero and Edison Bilbao Zarate, who were suspended for a game, apart from the injured Ryan Fenech, Bojan Kaljevic and goalkeeper Valerio Senatore.

Balzan were unlucky, as they went close on the 4th minute when an Alfred Effiong’s effort was denied by the upright, with Justin Haber beaten. However Birkirkara forged ahead on the 14th minute when, off a Fabrizio Miccoli freekick from the right, ZACH MUSCAT flicked the ball home from close range. Just before half time, Balzan notched the equaliser when, off free-kick by Justin Grioli , MAXIM FOCSA finished the ball at the back of the net.

Birkirkara regained the lead on 62 minutes when, off a corner from the left, the ball fell into PAUL FENECH’s path, who in turn managed to beat Christian Cassar. Four minutes later, Birkirkara increased the score to 3 – 1, thanks to another goal by ZACH MUSCAT who hit home following a corner from the right by Ryan Camenzuli. Five minutes from time, substitute Ryan Scicluna sealed the issue with a fourth goal, after hitting home from close range.
