In the first half, although having more of the possession Balzan disappointed as they could not penetrate the crowded Qormi defence.

In fact on the 19th minute it was Qormi that threatened first, as goalkeeper Ivan Janjusevic was tested by Terence Vella but he saved well.

A minute later Balzan responded with a fine shot by Lydon Micallef which was blocked by the defence, with the ball finishing into a corner.

After a goalless first half, on the hour Balzan was transformed as soon as Alan Da Silva Souza came in for Clive Brincat.

On the 71st minute, Balzan came very close to doubling the score on two simultaneous occasions. On the first instance Andreas Vella came out of his place to block but was anticipated by Aleksandar Vujacic, who then set Pedro Calcado whose shot was cleared off the line by Ousmane Sidibe. From the rebound Lydon Micallef saw his shot also cleared off the goal line, this time by Clifford Gauci.

However on the 76th minute Balzan finally doubled the score when, off a cross by Alan Da Silva Souza, ALEKSANDAR VUJACIC headed home past helpless goalkeeper Vella.

Balzan sealed the issue on the 85th minute when a cross shot by Steve Bezzina was partially saved by goalkeeper Vella but from the rebound LYDON MICALLEF immediately finished the ball at the back of the net.
